Centennial Sampler ~ Monday updates

As I shared with you last week, I will give an update of the blocks I sew over the weekends each Monday. I had hoped to get a further two finished but one is all I was able to achieve as this one has 32 tiny triangles which I had to draw, cut and sew together. I ended up taking longer to do this block than I had anticipated. I am going to try to start tracing the templates before I go to Cranberry Cottage whenever possible so I have more time to sew them there.

This block is called 'Jack in the box'. I used green fabric for this block mixed with a shirting type background fabric. I am planning on using a variety of colors for this sampler adding at least three more colors to the green, blue and brown I have used for the first four blocks.

You can see the first three blocks
here.

Don't forget to join me on July 25th for a fun little Christmas in July tutorial project!

This is a very pretty one Heidi! It does look like it would take some time to hand sew, and I think you accomplished a lot by finishing this one. What size will this project be when finished?

Looking forward to hearing what you have in store for a Christmas tutorial!

My but you've been busy, Heidi! The yoyos are very pretty, and look like a lot of work. I'll look forward to seeing a photo of the completed 'quiet' sampler.

Very cute block. It looks neat on the book Joni gave you too. If there is a picture on the bottom, I cannot open it. I get a red x.
Love you, Mom

Another lovely block. I'm enjoying watching your progress on this project and am reminded that I was going to add the book to my Amazon wishlist.

Hello!
Have you redesigned your site too? I have been very lax on my blog reading lately. How do you find time for all the needle work? My goodness!

Hope you are enjoying your summer!
much love,

Heidi,

I'm constantly taken away by your multitude of talents - not only at creating beautiful objects, but creating beautiful homes - both your every day one - and your lovely Cranberry Cottage! I wish we lived closer...

Heidi -
It is just lovely. It looks so detailed, I can only imagine how involved it all was. Definitely was worth the time though, because it is wonderful.

32 triangles, gulp - that's a tough block, great job and pretty color choices. This will be fun to watch it come together.

Wow Heidi, you did a great job on this lovely little block. but sewing 32 tiny pieces is too small for me.

Can't wait to see the finished quilt. and the tutorial on the
25th.

Heidi, I am also fond of Judie Rothermel's patterns & fabric. I have a very extensive collection of fabrics from her different lines. On your website I found a picture of 2 books that Judy has written, one "The Centennial Sampler" which I have, and the other shows a quilt called "A Miniature Treasure on the back cover. Can you tell me which book that is? I would like to find a copy of it so that I can see the actual quilt. I have her original books with the 150 miniature sampler blocks, but would like to see a closer look at how she placed them.

Hi Nancee. I cannot email you but hope you will see this comment. The book is called "Reproduction Quilts from the Civil War Period - 1850 to 1865". Hope that helps.
