Gone sewin', not fishin'

I love trying to create new things in the house using what I already have at hand. While working on our guest room, we found our old bolster pillows under the bed. They are covered in an aubergine India cotton from my old roman blinds I made when we moved into this house. Those blinds have been remade now in a cream color as the aubergine has long faded in the sun.

I decided this afternoon, in the mode of clearing out my stash to work on a new sewing project and recover these bolsters. I had saved the bottom of my curtains I hemmed for Cranberry Cottage. I knew they could come in handy even if I simply used them to make placemats or tablerunners. They have been sitting around for so long that I almost considered throwing them away while cleaning out my quilt studio. I wanted these bolsters to be very neutral so I can use them in either bedroom. I set to work with the curtain fabric and was done in just an hour.

I then looked around in the quilt studio to see how I could make them look a little jazzed up and found this lace ribbon that my mother had sent me also a couple of years ago. Perfect! And just enough to do the two pillows.

Well, aren't you just very clever.
They look so pretty. Another bright spot in the room. What's next? I know there will be something. LOL.
Love you, Mom

It looks lovely, Heidi! Ohio must be a monarchy and your mom must be the queen, there's no other explanation. Never too old to learn facts like these ...;)

Heidi, your pillows are so pretty. I just love the way your guestroom is turning out. I wish I were visiting! Hugs, Joanne
PS Even though I seldom add comments (I always seem to be in a hurry these days *sigh*), your two blogs are the first I look at each morning. I always begin my day with you :)

They are very pretty and how clever! It doesn't surprise me but I wish I would be able to create things with fabric as you do! :)

What a satisfying project that must have been! I always feel very virtuous and clever when I've made something without going out to the stores. Your bolsters are very pretty. It sounds as though all is in readiness for your special guest! My parents are preparing to leave (next week) after spending the winter here. It will be so hard to see them go.

Very pretty Heidi and very resourceful, using what you have on hand. That room is adorable and your Mom will be very content like your kitty Dagi was :)

Love the bolsters, Heidi. Definitely keeping with reuse, recycle, renew - a theme of "green" living. You are such a clever gal, always love to hear what wonderful things you think of.

Hi Heidi,

Thank you so much for your sweet comments on my 'blog things'. I will tell you about it later.
For now: a BIG thank you! from the girls for the E-card. They had to laugh so much and so long!!! They went to bed a few minutes ago, still giggling (just showed the card to them). They had their birthday on Thursday but André's family and friends came today. It was a very pleasant day and the girls were spoiled ... of course they didn't mind! :)

I think I will sit down now and enjoy some silence ... Have a nice week! Hugs, Carolien
