Christmas in July

It is Christmas at my home. Christmas in July, that is! Tomorrow evening is the quilt group's annual Christmas in July celebration. Each summer, I do this evening to get everyone enthusiastic about starting their Christmas projects. If you wait until October or November, you are feeling stressed. It is so nice to do holiday projects at this time of year when there seems to be so much more time. I have set up our small tree with my bobbin lace ornaments on the sideboard along with samples of the evenings project.

Each year, I pick a project for the group that is fun and easy to make for themselves and as gifts. This year it is soft trees. I made two sets of samples. This set is made of olive green felt with a yellow trim and gold beads.

The second sample set is made of cream felt with vintage lace and pearl heart buttons.

I hope these might inspire you to celebrate 'Christmas in July' and think about making some homemade gifts for those you care about.

Your bobbin lace tree is lovely Heidi! You must love to step back and look at your lace pieces on display. I would! Your soft trees are very pretty, and I know your quilt group will love this idea. I never thought to put some vintage lace on them!

Enjoy your evening,
Nancy

Hi Heidi!
I had not visited this blog of yours yet (but do love your 'Celebrate the Seasons' one!).
I see you are a very crafty person. What a wonderful idea to have a gathering of friends to start working on Christmas projects. I LOVE the little felt trees. Do you ever share instructions on how to make things? I would love to know how to make these! :o)
Blessings,
Janice

The little trees are adorable Heidi. I especially like the white ones with the lace.
Strangely enough I had just been looking at an Australian quilting magazine that had instructions for making them.
I don't feel like Christmas yet but will keep the idea in mind.

Heidi,
I can't think of anything nicer than bringing a little bit of Christmas spirit into our lives at an unexpected time of the year. Your little trees are so pretty and, like Margaret, the cream ones with the vintage trims are my favourites. Your group will be very inspired by your display. Thanks so much for sharing it with us :>)
Hugs, Angela

Oh my goodness Heidi. I just love these cream felt and vintage lace trees. Never gave much thought to Christmas in July, but I'm loving the idea and now I feel inspired to attempt to make these trees. Are they difficult??? All of your Christmas items are absolutely stunning and I assume everyone was pleased with your decorations.
