Letters of life...

As many of you know, I am having radioactive treatments at the hospital this week. I found out on Monday that I am not allowed to bring my needlework if I have to be admitted. Just in case I did have to stay in the hospital, I started these French monogram letters for a birthday gift for a friend. Her birthday is towards the end of my isolation period. I had planned on working on these while in isolation. Here are the letters 'S' and 'L'. I will have to stitch the 'T' when I am re

I was told this morning that my dose will be too high and I will be admitted tomorrow morning. I hope to be at a low enough radiation level to be able to leave the hospital during the day on Thursday. I have found it all going very easy for all the tests and measurements yesterday and today. Anything I take along will become radioactive and will be disposed of. I am wearing old clothes that can be thrown away when I am discharged.I do however not feel very good about coping with being without my needle and thread for even 24 hours. I am definately addicted! But I am also grateful for the good care I am getting at the hospital.

For now, I am off back home to cuddle my cat and get some sleep for tomorrow morning.I am writing this blog entry from my friend Sonja's house now as she wanted to cook for us tonight. Thank you Sonja!

I will be back in a couple of days and visiting you all once again.

(((Heidi))) I know you will feel lost without your needle. How interesting that everything will have to be thrown away. I would not have thought of that.

Hugs,
Susan

Heidi, I will continue to pray for you. Like you, I have a hard time going anywhere without stitching, even if I don't get to work on it. Somehow having it nearby so at least I can look at it helps! Hopefully, they will let you out in just a few days and you can get back to "normal" as far as your stitching goes.

O, O, no needle and thread close by. Well, there are needles there, but not the kind you want...
I hope everything goes as you want, and you are home soon.
Watch your email the next couple of days.
Hugs

Heidi,

I'll be thinking of you! I know it is too late for this time, but for next time, take some nice new glossy magazines - none though that deal with needlework, because you won't want to throw them away! Take some copies of some embroidery stitches you've been wanting to learn or to practice - take an old piece of fabric and a needle and do it while there and then toss it when you leave. Get some crayons and a coloring book to doodle with! Something you won't mind tossing!

Sterkte met je verblijf in de isolatie.
Geen dingen meenemen waar je aan gehecht bent.
Groetjes.

Whoops, I almost missed this entry. The letters you stitched are just beautiful. Since I did get to talk to you today, I am assured you are ok even though you are bored. Just keep getting well and I hope that rash is not anything to worry about.
Love you bunches,
Mom

BIG sympathy from me - empathy, even! Twenty four hours without needlework is very, very hard! I recently finished the piece that goes with me on business trips and didn't have time to prepare another, so I was away for one night in a hotel, with no cross stitch - oh Heidi....I really 'get it'!!
I'm sending you hugs and wishes that you soon feel 100% yourself.
