A Beatrix Potter weekend...

I had a weekend filled with Beatrix Potter. We spent the weekend up at Cranberry Cottage as usual. I decided to leave my quilting at home and just take along my stitching. I worked on some more of my Beatrix Potter Quaker sampler. I have almost finished another whole motif from when I took this photo yesterday. I want to have this sampler completed by the end of the year if not way before that time.

While stitching, I watched "Miss Potter" yet again on my laptop. I have seen this DVD so many times now that I start to notice many minute details of the houses and surroundings now as I watch. For example, I was examining the shelves in her upstairs room and all the wonderful items they contained.

The latest Beatrix Potter mystery is out and I want to finally catch up with my reading so I took a Susan Wiggit Albert book along to read. I bought these books each as they came out but have such a backlog of books to be read. I decided to move these to the head of the list.

I hope you all had a wonderful weekend. It was raining here which to me is the perfect weekend weather for sitting indoors and stitching or quilting!

I have added another of my UFOs to my list as I will be working on it this week ~ my folded yo~yo tablerunner. I also am half finished with another UFO and should have it ready to show you later this week. It is just wonderful to watch my projects list getting a little less each time.

Heidi,
After reading your blog I went to my library's website and am downloading an audiobook of one of her mysteries!!! I love mysteries that are written as if by one of my favorite authors...if you like Jane Austen books, you might be interested in the Stephanie Barron mysteries. They are written as if Jane is an actual participant.

Your sampler is beautiful! I love the red. We love B. Potter around here also. I recently found some embroidery transfers of characters from her books on Ebay. I'm looking forward to using them somewhere -- haven't figured that out quite yet.

Miss Potter is one of our favourite films, like you I could watch it over and over. I love the Katie Melhua song that goes through it.
I can just see you as one of the mice, stitching away!

That sampler is coming right along - good for you! I can't think of anything nice than stitching by a fire and watching a good movie. I did much the same thing this weekend. I'm working on a needlepoint Christmas Stocking for my grandson and am now at the 'filling in the background' point, having done all the detail and name. I'll be glad to turn to something else!

More very beautiful needlework. You need to make a coffee table picture book of all your work for those of us who only get to see an image of the true artwork.

So sweet and lovely...Everything about the world of Beatrix Potter, her tales and creatures fascinates and inspires! I remember as a child taking out the tiny green-cloth covered B. Potter editions from the school library...each little book a treasure. I have one of those big onmibus edtions with all the tales...I love to read and look at it! And I fell in love with the Miss Potter film...*SIGH*...Happy Days, Heidi ((HUGS))

Hi Heidi.

Your Beatrix Potter sampler is coming along beautifully. I have about the same amount of stitching done on mine but have no hope of stitching much more on it this year.
Hopefully I will be able to focus on it in 2009.
A Beatrix Potter weekend sounds just wonderful. I'm glad you enjoyed yours.
