Centennial Sampler ~ Monday updates
As I shared with you last week, I will give an update of the blocks I sew over the weekends each Monday. I had hoped to get a further two finished but one is all I was able to achieve as this one has 32 tiny triangles which I had to draw, cut and sew together. I ended up taking longer to do this block than I had anticipated. I am going to try to start tracing the templates before I go to Cranberry Cottage whenever possible so I have more time to sew them there.
This block is called 'Jack in the box'. I used green fabric for this block mixed with a shirting type background fabric. I am planning on using a variety of colors for this sampler adding at least three more colors to the green, blue and brown I have used for the first four blocks.

This is a very pretty one Heidi! It does look like it would take some time to hand sew, and I think you accomplished a lot by finishing this one. What size will this project be when finished?

It is just lovely. It looks so detailed, I can only imagine how involved it all was. Definitely was worth the time though, because it is wonderful.

32 triangles, gulp - that's a tough block, great job and pretty color choices. This will be fun to watch it come together.

Heidi, I am also fond of Judie Rothermel's patterns & fabric. I have a very extensive collection of fabrics from her different lines. On your website I found a picture of 2 books that Judy has written, one "The Centennial Sampler" which I have, and the other shows a quilt called "A Miniature Treasure on the back cover. Can you tell me which book that is? I would like to find a copy of it so that I can see the actual quilt. I have her original books with the 150 miniature sampler blocks, but would like to see a closer look at how she placed them.
